Killer Review of the Day: Syshacks – The Ultimate Tech Forum

October 15th, 2009 by Mani Viswanathan Leave a reply »

Well since many days I hav’nt written a Killer Review about any appz or sites or gadgets as mentioned in the Killer Review tab on the TOS homepage. So here is the first review from my side.

So today I will be reviewing a site called Syshacks. First of all I won’t be giving out reviews with the two sections called Advantages & Disadvantages , many do it but “Be Different” is my policy. :-)

What is Syshacks.com ?

Basically you would start thinking by the name of the domain that its a hacking site , but there is a twist here , its the exact opposite of hacking & other illegal stuffs which is Technology & Freewares. There is not even a single illegal content in the site so its purely a Tech Site.

Detailed Review Of Syshacks

The site is not on the root domain , its divided into a Forum as well as a Blog.

Now talking about the forum , the script used in Vbulletin , which is quite professional for a forum.

Firstly the banner impresses me & indicated that there is some graphics specialist behind it , its highly professional but a little bigger than usual , but that rarely matters with a forum.

The theme is simple but professional & Blue + Grey combination indicates towards a Web 2.0 page which it does have.  So full marks for the theme & the banner.

The forums are highly categorized according to users needs , each having a Main Board with its Child Board, thats the funda of placing similar things under the same roof. But the Boards are a bit more than expected.

Now comes the activity of the forum , a forum’s activity is calculated on its Age , Member , Threads & Posts. So according to the age ; Syshacks.com was started on 2007-12-11 .  It comes to around 2 years till date. The no. of members in the forum is 8,706 which is quite good , the numbers of Threads is 10,226 which means each member creates  at least one thread. Also the no. of posts is 24,656 , the ratio between member n the posts is about 2.4 , which is a bit less I would say. as compared to the threads & the members. Also the members who are active is also less. But the thing is that its not a warez forum , so there is no chance of hacking stuffs & illegal things like credit cards , hacked accounts , etc. So less people are attracted towards non-warez sites.

It also has an Elite Section for premium & rare stuffs , do check the link to attain it in the Useful links section below.

Now coming to Staff  i.e. the backbone of a forum. The staff @ Syshacks are quite active & solve members problems faster.

The rankings part is still remaining ,

Google Page Rank [PR] = 1

Alexa Rank = 275,424

The PR is not bad , but the Alexa rank rocks , its increasing day by day ,  you can get the detailed info @ here. The conclusion to this review is that it has more Pros than Cons , so its worth visiting & contributing towards it.
