First of all wish all our readers a Happy Gandhi Jayanti. Well there may be very few people who don’t know Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi , we INDIANS call him BAPU with love. He was born on the 2nd of October , 1869. He was the son of Putlibai Gandhi & Karamchand Gandhi. He is called by many names like ‘Mahatma’ Gandhi , Gandhiji , Bapu,etc. He completed his Degree of Law in the University College of London. Then due the british exploitation over India , he had a dream to free India with his immense strength of Satyagraha & Ahimsa. The freedom of India from the british rule was because of this great man. Therefore he is aptly called as the Father of the Nation.
Also his birthday which is today is included in the list of National Holidays of India which totally comprises of 3 holidays , you might have guessed them but for the one’s who couldn’t the 3 holidays are as follows
- Independence Day of India – 15th August
- Republic Day of India – 26th January
- Gandhi Jayanti – 2nd October
Its a very pround feeling as an Indian that our nations fathers b’day has been included in with the National Holiday list , these official national holidays are observed in all the states & union-territories of India.
Also The United Nations General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that October 2 will be celebrated as the International Day Of Non-Violence.
