During your registration on a page. A box that ask you some letters which will shown on a pic that even you can’t understand correctly thats called CAPTCHA.
re-captcha as all know the anti spam sytem to protect from bots has been serving millions of sites from many years. The reCAPTCHA started as a project of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Its now set to go under Google’s blanket 
Why is Google buying ?
According to google blog they say that re-captcha system is developed to not only protect from bots but also humans are converting images into text, images from several novels and books are being scanned. This scanning process is called OCR.
With this Google can power Google Books and other places. And they say it also increase the newspaper archive of google which has lots of scanned news papers and these will become in text so the user like you and me get the power to search these archives with more relevant results.
And has google takes re-captcha under control i hope you can see re-captcha all it product.
This shouldn’t happen even if google gets re-captcha control:
