Bing brings Visual search system

September 15th, 2009 by Raghunath J Leave a reply »

Bing already became very popular in its search platform competing the search engine leaders Google. Now there is always a tough competition between them. Well google is doing some busy stuff like launching Google Wave and Microsoft’s bing has launched a visual search.

Well Visual ? Ya you are right.. the new search system that can search visually.

What is it ? :
Visual search makes a new kind of search query that’s imaginary and groups them together for a more refine search result.

To have a glimpse of this system just go to www.bing.com/visualsearch

Well i was unable to open this page in INDIA so just changed my location to United States and it worked.

See that you have latest silverlight installed on your machine. If not it will prompt you to download.

As you go the visual search, at the left you come across few Galleries like Entertainment, Sports, Reference. Choose any of them and you will be sent to some group of images like latest movies, popular celebrities etc. The search system is different. Like you know the image of a movie that released yesterday, but you don’t know the movie name. With this visual search you can find the image and get its information.

The search is very smooth and even faster. The images will be places from the latest to oldest. I really loved this.

Here is a screenie of bing visual search:
